An environmental, agricultural, and horticultural education center dedicated to generating awareness and appreciation for the natural world.
Plant A Row for the Hungry is a national public service campaign initiated by the Garden Writers Association of America in 1995. Westmoor Park has designated a 1/2 acre for this dynamic program that integrates the community to volunteer to organically grow vegetables and herbs. The produce grown is donated to a local shelter in Hartford, as well as the senior centers in town.
If you are starving for a chance to make a difference in your community, help to take a bite out of hunger - sink your teeth into plant-a-row for the hungry!
You’ll reap a cornucopia of rewards!!

Join us for fun, friendship and community service at Westmoor Park. We have dedicated our organic vegetable garden to a nationwide project known as “Plant-a-Row for the Hungry”.
Our harvests are donated to local shelters and help to feed area residents. Many hands are needed to make this a successful program. Planting begins in April and the work continues through October.
We are looking for volunteers from all ages and levels of experience. Projects include planting, maintaining, and harvesting organically grown vegetables which are then donated to local shelters.
